WordPress Responsive Video Plugin

Update 2016-09-09

While this plugin still works, it is outdated.

Have a responsive design but no responsive video? Most solutions have some kind of JavaScript solution. This plugin doesn’t, it is pure CSS (and a little PHP).

Currently the plugin only makes oEmbedded videos responsive and only works well with widescreen formats. It needs some work to add a ratio calculator so all ratios will work. still needs some work. At the moment it has support for 4:3 and 16:9 ratios for the following oembed providers:

  • YouTube
  • Vimeo
  • DailyMotion
  • blip.tv
  • Flickr (partial full support for both videos and images)

More oembed providers will be added soon, including the new ones in WordPress 3.5.

If you want to collaborate, go ahead and do something with it on GitHub and let me know 🙂

Or… just download the zipped plugin to use it on your blog.

Demo page here!

Based on a tutorial by Jonathan Suh. Read the tutorial if you want to know more on the how.
Actually, upon further investigation it seems that the original article is on A List ApartI’ll leave this because it inspired me, but no credit was given in that post while it clearly originated from A List Apart.
